The Decibells are all about the pop/rock music of the 50’s & 60’s when “Teen Idols” ruled the airwaves. Using the classic 50’s Rock n Roll instrumentation of Guitar, Piano & Saxophone along with the dynamic vocals of Angie Smith and Billy Orr out front, Adelaide’s new dance band is sure to have Rock n Rollers boppin’ away on dance floors in their favourite pubs& clubs. Angie Smith, the popular vocalist who left top Adelaide band Rave On to finish her nursing degree some years ago, gives The Decibells the focal point out front, singing the rocking, girly classics of Connie Francis, Brenda Lee and Wanda Jackson.
Guitar legend Billy Orr on his red Stratocaster and vocals adds the Little Richard and Jerry Lee Lewis rockers to the band’s repertoire`. Billy performed for many years with Johnny O’Keefe. On rock n roll Piano and Hammond Organ is Geoff Skewes, formerly of 60’s national recording artists, The Vibrants. Playing Tenor Saxophone is the very talented Carol Andersen who has worked all around Australia playing in small combos right up to 20 piece big bands. Carol brings the classic RnR saxophone sound to the band. Adding to the mix is bass man Ron Thomas who still plays his beloved Fender Precision Bass that his parents gave him for his 21 st birthday just “a few” years ago. Ron brings that bottom end pump to the band. The Decibells drummer is the very respected and well known John Stephens, the drummer’s drummer. John ran the drum section of Adelaide’s top music store, John Reynolds Drum City for 35 years. John’s incredible technique and feel gives the band the perfect tempos for Rock n Roll dancing.
The Decibells guarantee a full dance floor whenever and wherever they perform. Put on your dancing shoes…
