Willsy’s Career
Anne Wills OAM, was spotted by Channel 9 Executives during the 1964 Telethon Quest. She was offered the job of Weather Girl on NWS9 which began in July, 1965. By 1967 she was appearing with Ernie Sigley on “Adelaide Tonight” twice a week. This was a very successful partnership which lasted until December 1973. During Willsy’s time on the show, she was first female in S.A. to host Adelaide Tonight, when Sigley was overseas.

In 1974, she co-hosted ‘The Penthouse Club’ on ADS7 with Bob Francis. She won one of her 19 logies for this show. After the show was cancelled she went back to NWS9 to do daytime hosting for a few years before moving onto the movie scene. In 1980 she started a movie show on Channel 9 called “Clapperboard”. This show won her 2 of her Logies; ‘Most Popular Show in SA’ and ‘Most Popular Female’.
Anne Wills then went to Channel 10 Adelaide in 1981. “Clapperboard’ became “Movie Scene” on Channel 10, which ran for a successful 17 years. As part of her commitment to the show she is a guest at the Academy Awards ceremony in L.A. every year. Therefore has rubbed shoulders with just about every major film star in the Industry.
In 1984 she again went back to being the weather girl on Channel 10, which in 1989 changed call signals and became Channel 7. She stayed their weather presenter right through until the end of 1997. During this time she also co-hosted a new morning show, “A.M Adelaide”, which was highly successful in 1992.
After this she moved onto S.A.’s Channel 9 to present their movie programme called “Close Up With Willsy” in 1999. But after a year, she decided to go back “home”, to host and present A.M Adelaide again on Channel 7 Adelaide.
Present Day
Bringing you to 2018, Anne certainly had a great year. Being awarded her OAM, (order of Australia) for Service to Broadcast Media. A very well-deserved award we say! Anne Wills currently works with us here at Vegas Promotions as a ‘very popular’ trivia host at two of our venue’s every week! Also appearing at requested events, as an MC/Compere/Host.
