Meet The Band

John McKay heads The Hi-Tides and has operated as a professional musician around Adelaide and Sydney circuits over decades. All-round nice-guy. Has performed with many legends including John Bywaters from the Twilights.

John (JB) Bywaters the Hi-Tides capable bass player has been around what seems like forever. He’s a permanent fixture on the Adelaide music scene. He’s Vice Chairman of the Adelaide Chapter of Support Act and on the committee of the South Australian Music Hall of Fame.
John has played in many high-profile bands including The Twilights, Fahrenheit 451, Honest John and Cornesy’s Allstars to name a few. John’s first band was a trio called “The Plainsmen” with drummer Dean Birbeck and a guitarist called Ivan way back in 1961. He also plays bass in a Community Band called the Chicago Showband who perform at Charity Functions such as pageants and lifestyle homes.

John Rose is a multi-instrumentalist who lays down solid drum beats for The Hi-Tides. He runs a successful international business distributing “home movies”. He has performed with many celebrities, including Greg Mallen.

Greg Mallen has the pleasure of being the only member of The Hi-Tides who doesn’t have a room named after him. He has a long history in Adelaide cover bands and takes pride in reproducing both the tones and style of the songs we perform. He was a 1976 founding member of the long-running Adelaide band Muskat and currently performs with several show bands including The Creedence Revival, The Oz Rock Show and Cornesy’s Allstars.
