The Retros

Steve and Geoff first met way back in 1974 while both attending high school. They have been active entertainers in South Australia for forty eight years, starting in 1974 as founding members of the bands Repeat and Jarvis. In the eighties they formed a new band Parallel Lines, which was soon to become one of Adelaide’s most popular tribute bands The Beatmakers, with their impersonation style tribute to The Beatles, the British and American 60’s. By 1990, Geoff and Steve parted company to pursue individual ventures. Then in 1998 Steve and Geoff reformed to perform a tribute act to the late John Lennon, a retrospect to John’s later years before his assassination. Following this they formed a musical duo Double Fantasy, staying together for thirteen and a half years. Once again the boys decided to pursue new adventures alone. After a five year break, Geoff and Steve got back together forming a new musical duo The Retros. They are very proud to be performing together in a fully sequenced duo, Steve playing Bass Guitar and Geoff playing Lead Guitar. In this venture they are adapting all their skills and experience, to perform a great mix of foot tapping music that ensures an enjoyable time for all.

Over the years, Geoff and Steve have performed on the same bill as many well-known international artists; these being The Baron Nights, The Bachelors and Gloria Loring (Days of our lives fame). They have also performed in shows with many top interstate and local artists such as, Johnny Pace, Chunky Custard and Planet Square, just to name a few. Their musical careers have taken them all over Australia as well as overseas, performing in not only high profile venues, but also in more cosy public venues that puts them closer to the people where they love to be.

Steve and Geoff have performed at such coveted venues as The Festival Theatre Adelaide (Main Stage-Full House), The Hotel Adelaide, The Adelaide Convention Centre and Adelaide Festival Amphitheatre. They have also performed at many corporate functions, too numerous to mention.

Using a studio quality sound system, The Retros pride themselves on the mix and style of music they perform and are so fond of today. Songs from, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Hermans Hermits and Jerry And The Pacemakers, to David Bowie, Santana, Queen and Brian Ferry. Performing a variety of songs from the 60’s through to the 80’s. Much of The Retros repertoire brings back some countless memories providing a fun atmosphere, great music and a chance to help you relive the years gone by.
